The successful candidate will collaborate with the Ross Graphics development teams to enable and deliver product testing strategies. Expertise will be gained through direct testing of both hardware and software products, working closely with technical personnel, and developing automation environments. The candidate will be a champion of product quality, working with the development team to improve test coverage and test efficiency through automation. The candidate will report directly to the Product Verification Manager. This position is located at our Ottawa Research & Development facility.

What the job is all about:

  • Develop manual and automated test plans and test strategies
  • Participate in the management, maintenance, and expansion of the lab environment, including investigating third party software/hardware integration (racking servers, cabling, installing and configuring graphics cards etc.)
  • Manage test plans and test cases in the test management database
  • Modify existing test plans and testing information to correct errors, adapt to new use case scenarios or upgraded interfaces, and cover performance enhancements
  • Assist in investigation and reproduction of product and customer issues
  • Provide regular status updates on manual and automated testcase execution to management and associated development teams
  • Provide effort estimation for scheduling purposes to management
  • Collaborate with other technical and non-technical teams as needed
  • Office Environment and in some cases, work occurs in the lab area
  • Occasional lifting, bending, stooping required in maintaining lab area and equipment
  • Perform other related duties as required

Who you are:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a development role and/or test case automation role
  • Solid experience with testing data networks
  • Great level of experience with HTTP and RESTful web service automation tools (Robot Framework, SoapUI, JMeter, Postman, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Great level of experience with integrated testing of multi-server configurations
  • Exceptional experience programming (C, C++, JAVA/JSCRIPT, Python, Visual Basic, scripting, etc.)
  • Experience [BC3] [MR4] with development or testing using Unreal or other 3D graphics engines
  • Experience with testing AWS web services and/or cloud-based architectures
  • Experience with bug tracking and test cycle management tools (Jira, Bugzilla, etc.)
  • Experience with development management tools such as source control and code review (FishEye, Crucible, Confluence, SVN, etc)
  • Knowledge of computer networking (TCP/IP, HTTP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of databases & SQL. (PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, etc.)
  • Knowledge of operating systems (Linux and various Windows platforms)
  • Knowledge of Geospatial data would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of broadcast and television production would be considered an asset
